Synopsis

Kamal is a 9 year old Arab boy who lives in Jerusalem with his grandfather, mother and sisters. His family is poor and so everyday he goes to the Old City and tries to sell postcards. His attempts are thwarted by bullies and discouraged by his grandfather. David is a 9 year old Jewish boy who lives in America with his divorced mother. He is in Jerusalem to visit his father whom he hasn’t seen in years. They have a difficult time understanding each other: David is hurt that his father is too busy with work to spend time with him and his father doesn’t understand why David is so shy and obsessed with his coin collection. One day in the Old City Kamal spots and follows David, steals his pouch and escapes. David is broken hearted, alone, and runs into the same bullies that have been targeting Kamal, who rescues him. Together they will live an adventure that teach them the true meaning of friendship.

Sinossi

Kamal, un bambino arabo di 9 anni, vive a Gerusalemme con il nonno, la madre e le sorelle. La sua famiglia è povera e così ogni giorno Kamal va alla Città Vecchia per cercare di vendere cartoline. I suoi sforzi sono vanificati da un gruppo di bulli e scoraggiati dal nonno. David è un bambino ebreo di 9 anni che vive in America con la madre divorziata. È a Gerusalemme per incontrare il padre, che non vede da anni. Tra padre e figlio non c’è dialogo: David soffre del fatto che il padre è troppo preso dal lavoro per passare del tempo con lui; il padre non capisce la timidezza di David e la passione che il figlio nutre per la sua collezione di monete. Un giorno, nella Città Vecchia, Kamal adocchia David, lo segue, gli ruba la borsa e scappa. David, afflitto e solo, si imbatte nei bulli che tormentano Kamal. Sarà proprio Kamal a salvarlo. Insieme i due vivranno un’avventura che li porterà a scoprire il vero senso dell’amicizia.
