Synopsis
Colin, a rich, creative and idealistic young man, dreams of meeting his great love. His friend Chick, a poor engineer, fanatic of the philosopher Jean-Sol Partre, lives with Alise, who is also the niece of Nicolas, the brilliant chef of Colin. Colin’s dream comes true when at a big party he meets Chloé, a young woman who seems to be the incarnation of a blues by Duke Ellington, entitled MOOD INDIGO. It is love at first sight and the two marry, but during the honeymoon, their idyllic marriage turns to sorrow when Chloé becomes ill, due to a water lily growing in her lung. In a fantastical Paris, to pay for her medical care and surround her constantly with fresh flowers which should be the only way to treat the ailment, Colin must work in increasingly absurd conditions, while their apartment falls to bits around them and their circle of friends disintegrates.

Colin, giovane ricco, creativo e idealista, vive sognando di incontrare il grande amore. Il suo amico Chick, povero ingegnere, appassionato ammiratore del filosofo Jean-Sol Partre, vive il suo idillio con Alise, la nipote di Nicolas, il geniale cuoco di Colin. Il desiderio di Colin si avvera a una grande festa, dove conosce Chloé, una giovane donna che sembra l’incarnazione di un brano di Duke Ellington intitolato MOOD INDIGO. I due si innamorano e si sposano, ma durante la luna di miele la loro felicità si trasforma in dolore: Chloé scopre di essere malata a causa di una ninfea che cresce nei suoi polmoni. In una fantasmagorica Parigi, per pagarle le cure necessarie e circondarla continuamente di fiori freschi che dovrebbero aiutarla a guarire, Colin è costretto ad accettare i lavori più assurdi, mentre la loro abitazione si fa sempre più piccola e la cerchia dei loro amici si sgretola.
