  FATHERS AND CHILDREN

"Conrad's" Shadow Line hangs over the Festival; an ideal, subtle boundary line between adolescence and adulthood. The new section hosted by vice director Peppe D’Antonio, aims at looking deeper into all the issues stemming from this delicate boundary. Amongst the Festival films: "Sunday's Children" by Daniel Bergman (Ingmar's son) and "Tir-Na-Nog Into the West" by Mike Newell ("Four Weddings and a Funeral" and "Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire"'s director).

Foreign films presented in Giffoni Start to be distributed in Italy like never before. This will give Giffoni the chance to propose its films to students throughout the year. "The Slingshot" is purchased and distributed by Columbia.

Jurors are asked to award a prize  for Best Actor and best Actress.  The awards go to, charming debutant MARIE GILLAIN and to her young partner (present at the Festival) ALESSANDRO SIGONA for "Marie".

A retrospective is dedicated to Eastern European cinematography L’Aria Serena dell’Est (the meek air of the East); "Tango Argentino" by Serbian director Goran Paskaljevic is the highlight.
The François Truffaut  Award goes to Italian distribution company Mikado.
Honorary President of the Jury is stunning CATHERINE SPAAK.
