Minister for Cultural Heritage Rocco Buttiglione opens this 35th annual of the Festival. Over 1500 jurors come to the Festival from all over the world: Albania, Armenia, Australia, Belarus, Belgium, England, Germany, Ghana, India, Iran, Israel, Italy, Lybia, Palestine, Poland, South Africa, South Korea, USA.

Amidst the short films authors: Christian Lo ("Ramp"), Petr Novak ("Enemies"), Michael Spitz ("Dreams of Buses"), Francesco Lomastro ("Four Days that I Love You"), Lucy Gouldthorpe ("Bruni"), Massimo Carrier Ragazzi ("Treddi"), Babak Nazari ("There Was the Moon and the Fox"), Maren Erdmann ("Dancing Darlings"). 

Mariolina Simone, Manlio K Castagna and Luca Apolito host the night shows at the arena following the previous year's great success.
HALEY JOEL OSMENT - awarded with the Explosive Talent Award - and attractive CLAIRE DANES are the Hollywood stars. PAOLO SORRENTINO, SAVERIO COSTANZO, ENZO D'ALÒ and KRZYSZTOF ZANUSSI are amongst the talented film makers to come to the Festival. Composer GUIDO DE ANGELIS and a close friend of Giffoni CARLO RAMBALDI are also at the Festival.

From the big screen to the smaller one, a combination of affirmed actors and young talents also comes to the Festival: GIULIANO GEMMA, MASSIMO BOLDI, BARBARA DE ROSSI, GIULIANA DE SIO, RICCARDO SCAMARCIO, JASMINE TRINCA, MARZO MARZOCCA, MARIO PORFITO, FRANCESCO PAOLANTONI, MARCO LEONARDI, DANNY QUINN, NATASHA STEFANENKO, GABRIELLA PESSION, SERGIO MUNIZ, CHRISTIANE FILANGIERI, LAURA CHIATTI, LINDA BATISTA, DUCCIO GIORDANO, PRIMO REGGIANI, SEBASTIANO SOMMA, and, from Poland, PIOTR ADAMCZYK.

Giffoni Music Concept, hosted by Simona Bencini and Pippo Pelo, awards the new song writers of Italian music. For the second year running POW WOW is hosted by Paolo Biamonte. GIANMARCO MAZZI, GIORDANO SANGIORGI, TONY RENIS take part in the debates while Italian musicians get everybody "into the groove" at the Arena PIERO PELÙ, POVIA, PAOLA TURCI, GINEVRA DI MARCO, CRISTIANO GODANO (Marlene Kuntz), NEGRAMARO, DIVINA, SIMONE CRISTICCHI, MARINA REI, TIROMANCINO, PIER CORTESE, MUSICA NUDA, LUCA NESTI, PLANET FUNK, IRENE GRANDI, ENRICO BOCCADORO, VELVET, EDOARDO BENNATO, SERENA ROSSI, STEFANO BOLLANI, CAPONE e BUNGT BANGT, DEVON REX, CLAUDIO COCCOLUTO, SIMONA BENCINI, LE VIBRAZIONI.

"Herbie: Fully Loaded", distributed by Buena Vista Italia is premiered in Giffoni, "The Fantastic Four" by Twenty Century Fox, "The Spongebob Squarepants Movie" by UIP and "Yo-Rhad - Un amico dallo spazio", created by Victor Rambaldi  and his father Carlo are also screened. Special event is also the premiere of the Italian dubbed version of "Howl's Moving Castle" by Maestro Hayao Miyazaki.

In  2005 Giffoni honours Polish cinema and for the first time proposes to a big audience all the short films produced by GFF in Campania region schools

At the San Francesco monastery interesting exhibitions are set: Baghdad Mothers by Gianni Volpi, Fotofinish by Lucio Afeltra and Stop the Use of Children Soldiers by various authors strongly wanted amonsgt others by Amnesty International.

The GFF also supports the CIAK Operazione Sicurezza (pro law), Don't Kill Your Brain, GnamFest, Amnesty International, CIAL projects.

Giffoni celebrates Telefono Azzurro (organization for children's safeguard) and Ernesto Caffo awards Claudio Gubitosi for all that he has done and keeps doing for children and youth.
