The Giffoni Gilm Festival Hosted over 1600 jurors for this annual; jurors from all over the world, 29 Countries divided into 4  film competitive sections and two non film competitive sections. For the first time in its history Troubled Gaze, a competitive section made up of adults and youth (frm 19 to 25 years) gets on the way. 

103 works are presented during the Festival, directly selected by the artistic direction, chosen amidst 1.500 films. 66 films are in the four official competitive sections. – Kidz, First Screens, Free to Fly e Y Gen.

After the huge critic and audience success  at  the previous Suindance annual, Y Gen (jurors from 15  to19 years) host the long awaited for "Quinceañera" by Richard Glatzer and Wash Westmoreland (distr. Teodora Film): a 15 year old pregnant girl is thrown out of home, She seeks help and shelter at her great uncle's who has already welcomed her homosexual cousin. "C.R.A.Z.Y." instead is a Canadian film (distr.  Istituto Luce), it faces family dissolution with a particular strong, expressive communicative language. Jeff Bridges is the gymnastics instructor in "Stick It" (distr. Italia Buena Vista) where a young girl has to gain self confidence and respect with sport.

Amongst the films presented at Free To Fly (12-14 years) Peter Cattaneo's latest work, director of cult-movie "Full Monty", who presents "Opal Dream" (distributed in Italy by Lucky Red) on the power of dreams and their necessity. From the U.S.A. "The Greatest Game Ever Played", by Bill Paxton ("Frailty") and distributed by Buena Vista, in which a young poor challenges the world of golf. Social integration and war are the central issues of "Zozo", Swedish Oscar nominee by Josef Fares ("Jalla! Jalla!"'s director). Finnish "Mother of Mine", is also an Academy award nominee; during the Second World War a teenager finds himself struggling between two mothers.

Of First Screens section (9-12 years) we like to mention the American "Dreamer" (distribuzione italiana Eagle), fascinating story of a little girl (Dakota Fanning, "I am Sam" and "War of the Worlds" actress) who eventually talks her father into training a horse everybody thinks does not stand a chance. Love is at the centre of Gabe, the "Little Manatthan"'s young Romeo (distribuzione italiana Fox), while friendship between a fox and a child is at the centre of "Helen the Baby Fox" (dist. Revolver).

Finally in the Kidz section (6-9 years) we find animation products like the Russian fairy-tale "Dobrinya and the Dragon" and a classic like "Lassie", directed by Maestro fantasy Charles Sturridge ("Gulliver's Travels, Fairytale: a true story") and interpreted by Peter O’Toole and Jon Linch ("Sliding Doors").

National and international Celebrities meet the young people in Giffoni. Amongst the celebrities: the protagonist of The Lord of the rings ELIJAH WOOD, the amazing "Titanic" protagonist, Oscar® winner for "Misery", KATHY BATES, stunning JESSICA BIEL, American movie revelation, and  X-Men heroine ANNA PAQUIN

SABRINA FERILLI is the sponsor ot this annual that gets on the way the 15th July. Amongst all  the Italian artists Giffoni hosts "The best of youth" cult director MARCO TULLIO GIORDANA, "The Fever" protagonist VALERIA SOLARINO, screen play writer and director GIOVANNI VERONESI, the author and protagonists of "Notte prima degli esami" FAUSTO BRIZZI, NICOLAS VAPORIDIS and CRISTIANA CAPOTONDI. Moreover Italian film star ADRIANO GIANNINI, great director and actor MICHELE PLACIDO, VIOLANTE PLACIDO as actress and singer. GIORGIO PASOTTI and NICOLETTA ROMANOFF bring great enthusiasm, along with  young actor YARI GUGLIUCCI. Great interest also caused by former Miss Italia DANIELA FEROLLA, who hosts one of the night shows at the Festival, VALERIA MARINI, LUISA RANIERI, YVONNÈ SCIÒ, MONICA GUERRITORE, ALESSANDRO SIANI and many others.

The Festival also resents two amazing european  cinema premieres "Garfield: A Tail of Two Kitties", by director Tim Hill, born off  Jim Davis' pen and distributed by Twentieth Century Fox. At the end of the Festival on 21st July, "Cars", the brilliant new cartoon 3D by Disney-Pixar Animation directed by Oscar® winner John Lasseter ("Toy Story", "Toy Story 2", "A Bug's Life").

Last but not least from Disney Channel the premiere of  "Hannah Montana"'s pilot; the new live-action iseries on air from September, directed by Lee Shallat-Chemel, David Kendall, Fred Savage. Meanwhile in Rome "Bella gente stasera in Paradiso" is premiered, it is a an editing film Vincenzo Mollica and Antonello Sarno have dedicated to all the films marking Italian history. 

Mediaset, the Italian private network, commits itself even further to the Festival for this  36th annual: CANALE 5 dedicates a series of events to the festival including films for children and young people from 12th June 2006  with the show "Ragazzi al cinema", in fact every morning on Canale 5, at about 9.10 circa, a series of films screened At the Giffoni Film Festival are aired.
