Synopsis
A village wedding in Anatolia. The groom is a 60 years-old and has spent most of his life in prison on account of two honour killings. The bride’s face is not to be seen under her red veil. Actually this wedding is arranged and is held to stop a blood feud between two clans. After the ceremony, that lasts until late at night, the bride and the groom are alone in the nuptial chamber. The bride reveals her face, that is the frightened face of a 14 years-old girl. The groom tries to be gentle to her while faces the obligation to consummate the marriage with his wife under the pressure of the thousands of years old male-dominated traditions. The bride hesitates and tries to use other distractions to get through the night. Night ends and dawn arrives, bringing the relatives with it: all of whom are waiting for the stained bed sheet that will prove that everything is as it should be.

Sinossi
Un matrimonio in un villaggio turco. Lo sposo, sulla sessantina, ha passato gran parte della sua vita in prigione a causa di due delitti d’onore. La sposa ha il volto nascosto da un velo rosso. Le nozze sono combinate, e dovrebbero servire a interrompere una cruenta faida. Dopo il matrimonio, che si protrae fino a notte fonda, la sposa e lo sposo restano soli nella camera nuziale. La sposa si toglie finalmente il velo, e scopre il volto spaventato di una ragazza di 14 anni. Lo sposo cerca di essere gentile, mentre sente su di sé il peso di tradizioni millenarie e maschiliste che gli impongono il dovere di consumare il matrimonio. La sposa esita, ha paura, cerca di usare altre distrazioni per passare il tempo. La notte finisce, e arriva l’alba, portando con sé i genitori degli sposi, in attesa di vedere sul lenzuolo la prova che ogni cosa sia andata come doveva.
