Synopsis
July 1943, Riccione. Carlo meets Roberta, a young officer’s widow, and falls in love with her. On the evening of July 25th, Carlo’s father, a fascist hierarch, has to run away. His son doesn’t want to leave Roberta and prefers to stay. During a night meeting Carlo and Roberta are stopped by a patrol that checks their papers. Carlo’s papers are not in order: the day after the young man has to present himself to the Headquarters. Roberta thinks with terror that war will take the man she loves away and decides to hide Carlo in her villa in Rovigo to rescue him from the call to arms. During the travel to Rovigo, the train is attacked and the lovers are separated. When they meet again, the young man decides to present himself to the Military Headquarters and insists that the woman has to go back home. The film was awarded with Silver Ribbon 1960 for the Best Actress (Eleonora Rossi Drago) and Best Music (Mario Nascimbene).
Sinossi
Luglio 1943, Riccione. Carlo conosce per caso Roberta, giovane vedova di un ufficiale, e i due si innamorano. La sera del 25 luglio, il padre di Carlo, un gerarca fascista, è costretto a fuggire. Il figlio, per non allontanarsi da Roberta, preferisce rimanere. Durante un incontro notturno, Carlo e Roberta vengono fermati da una pattuglia che controlla i loro documenti. Quelli di Carlo non sono in regola: il giovane dovrà presentarsi al Comando il giorno seguente. Roberta pensa con terrore che la guerra stia per toglierle l’uomo che ama e decide di nascondere Carlo nella sua villa di Rovigo per sottrarlo alla chiamata alle armi. Durante il viaggio verso Rovigo, il treno subisce un attacco aereo e nello scompiglio gli amanti vengono separati. Quando si ritrovano, il giovane ha deciso di presentarsi al Comando Militare ed esige che la donna torni a casa. Il film vinse il Nastro d’Argento 1960 per la migliore attrice (Eleonora Rossi Drago) e per il miglior commento musicale (Mario Nascimbene).
