Signe Baumane
Signe Baumane was born in Latvia and lived there until she was 18. She then moved to Moscow to study Philosophy. In 1989 Signe started to work in Riga’s Animated Film Studio as a cell painter and part time animator. In 1995 she moved to New York where she quickly found the best possible teacher of Animated Independence - Bill Plympton, in whose studio Signe started to work in January 1996. Baumane learned how an independent animation studio works. In 1998 Signe made her first animated film on American soil and since then She has been trying to produce films regularly. Among his films: THE THREATENED ONE (1999), NATASHA (2001), WOMAN (2002), VETERINARIAN (2007).

Signe Baumane nasce e vive in Lettonia fino ai 18 anni. Si trasferisce poi a Mosca per studiare filosofia. Nel 1989 inizia a lavorare al Riga’s Animated Film Studio come animatrice part-time. Nel 1995 si trasferisce a New York dove trova rapidamente un ottimo insegnante, l’animatore indipendente Bill Plympton, nel cui studio Signe comincia a lavorare nel gennaio 1996. Baumane impara, così, come funziona uno studio indipendente e nel 1998 realizza il suo primo film d'animazione sul territorio americano. Da allora ha realizzato dieci cortometraggi tra cui: THE THREATENED ONE (1999), NATASHA (2001), WOMAN (2002), VETERINARIAN (2007).
