Synopsis

This is the story of the Ugly Duckling and his father, Ratso, a rat just happened to be there when the little guy’s egg hatched and forced to take on the responsibility. Confused? Well, so was Ratso. And it’s not like he didn’t have enough on his plate already. What with being on the run from a gang of nasty city rats in the inhospitable countryside. And did we mention he’s related to a cat who takes orders from a glove puppet? Life’s not easy. But anyone who’s raised a duckling will tell you that.

Michael Hegner

Born 1964, Denmark. He started his career as an Assistant animator on the TV series QUARK (1987-88). He then went on to make commercials for Lego, Carlsberg, Coca Cola, Tuborg. He was the director of the TV spot ORGAN DONATION, which won a Grand Global Award. His first feature animation, HELP! I’M A FISH (2000), was co-directed with S. Fjeldmark.

Karsten Kiilerich

Born 1955, Denmark. He was working as a schoolteacher when in 1983 he started working as an animator on the feature film VALHALLA. In 1988 he started an animation studio known today as A. Film. From 1983 to 1993 he worked as animator and directing animator on numerous animated feature films such as FERN GULLY and THUMBELINA, plus TV series as THE PINK PANTHER SHOW and MUMFIE. He worked as screenwriter on the animated feature film HELP! I’M A FISH. In 1999 he was nominated for an Oscar for the animated short WHEN THE LIFE DEPARTS.
