Synopsis
People from a village, who have lost their shepherd in an accident, are looking for a shepherd in the neighbouring village. Alimorad, a young orphan who has to take care of his sister Robab, takes the duties of looking after the herd, even though the villagers believe that he is too young and incapable of doing the job. In the meantime, when they ask him to take a mule to the forest and leave it at the mercy of the wolves, Alimorad hides the animal lying to the entire community.

Sirous Hassanpour
Born in 1962. He began his career as a child actor in productions for Kanoon (Institute for Intellectual Development of Children and Young Adults) in 1971. He graduated from the Islamic Filmmaking Centre and worked as assistant director for directors such as Majid Majidi. He directed several short films for children and the films THE DEVOTED FARMER and THE CHILDHOOD TRAIN, story about two children who prevent a train accident.
Director’s statement
“Shooting THE CHILDHOOD TRAIN wasn’t easy because of the cold, train and unprofessional actors. And shooting THE LIAR SHEPHERD was troublesome too – however full of joy and liveliness”.
