Synopsis
After Pippi Longstocking, Karlsson on the roof is Astrid Lindgren’s most popular character. The story takes place in Stockholm where PeeWee, a lonely 7-year old boy, lives with his family. His brother and sister are teenagers with lives of their own, and PeeWee feels he has nobody to play with. But one day – literally out of the blue – a chubby little man appears in his room. He introduces himself as the world’s greatest Karlsson! He claims to live on the roof and, most amazing of all, Karlsson has a propeller on his back and can actually fly. Karlsson is soon written off as a figment of PeeWee’s imagination because he has a habit of disappearing whenever PeeWee wants to show him to his family. But to PeeWee, Karlsson is very much alive. And despite Karlsson’s self-centred behaviour and unlimited faith in his own abilities, he brings excitement into PeeWee’s world.
