Synopsis
Korea 1950-1953. In a small rural village war seems far away, but poverty and ideological differences put its inhabitants against each other. Two boys, Sung Min and Chang Hee, spend time chasing the jeeps of the Americans trying to get some candy. Chang Hee's father was taken away by North Korean soldiers, and the boy's family is forced into charity, while Sung Min's father manages to get more and more enriched by working with his daughter for the US Army. When they discover an abandoned mill, where the soldiers meet with the women of the village forced to prostitute themselves, the boys begin to spy on them. One day, from their observation posts, the two see Chang Hee's mother with an American, and outside, guarding, Sung Min's father.
