Born in Brussels, director and producer Alain Berliner is the founder and manager of WFE (Writing For Entertainment) Production, a Belgian production company based in Wallonia and Brussels, producing mostly feature films in cooperation with France, Luxembourg, England, Italy and other countries.
The company had a smashing debut in 1997 with Alain Berliner's international hit "My Life in Pink". The film premiered at the Cannes Film Festival and in 1998 went on to receive, among others, the Golden Globe for Best Foreign Film, Best Screenplay at the European Film Awards, BAFTA and French Cesar nominations for Best first Film.
Since then, Alain has gone on to write or co-write and direct many films including: "Passion of Mind" (starring Demi Moore and produced by Lakeshore and Paramount), "The House by the Canal", The hit TV show "Clara Sheller" (F2), "La Peau de Chagrin", "A Son", (starring Michele Laroque who won Best Actress at La Rochelle Film Festival in 2014 and a huge hit when televised), and "Stolen Babies", (France TV).
Alain Berliner proved he has the creative skills, elegance and maturity to create dramatic comedies that are unafraid to tackle subjects that do not fit into the blockbuster mold and yet reach a large audience emotionally. He is one of the few directors capable of approaching that style of in-between-genres' smart entertainment.
Alain Berliner teaches Screenplay and Directing at the INSAS film school in Brussels. As a script doctor he has participated in several screenwriting workshops such as Equinoxe (France) and Atelier Grand Nord (Canada).
