Synopsis
Sun-Jae is an abandoned child brought up as the son of the thief Moon-Soo. On the man’s death the child finds himself alone. The encounter with Yi-Ryun, a slightly older girl would like to keep him with her, does not prevent him from going off in search of his mother. During the long journey he meets many people and experiences sorrow and fullness, love and sexual desire, and a sense of the equality of human beings.

Jang Sun-woo (Seoul, March 20, 1952) is a South Korean director and screenwriter.
He graduated in anthropology from the National University of Seoul. He then became film critic and screenwriter, and in 1986 he directed his first film, Seoul Hwangje. In 1994, his film Hwa-eomgyeong (1993) won the Alfred Bauer Prize at the 44th Berlin International Film Festival.
