MARIAN HANDWERKER

Born on December 14, 1944 in Taldykurgan (Kazakhstan, USSR), Marian Handwerker has lived in Belgium since 1967, where he has spent his entire career. Graduate with the highest distinction of the IAD, section realization, he is still a student when he directs his first short films, Anars, Bidonville and Head of Turks. His first feature film, The Cage aux ours, competed in 1974 in an official selection at the Cannes Film Festival. He has since directed many documentaries and feature films for film and television. Several of his films, including Marie (1992), were written with screenwriter Luc Jabon.
