Lasse Hallström, Lars Sven Hallström (Stockholm, 2 June 1946) is a Swedish director, twice nominated for an Oscar for Best Director. To remember among his films The rules of the house of cider and Chocolat.
The son of a dentist and writer and screenwriter Karin Lyberg, Hallström grows up in a Swedish upper class family, so much so that his maternal grandfather was Ernst Lyberg, Swedish finance minister and head of the liberal party in the 1920s and 30s.
Among his works, it is also worth mentioning the direction of almost all the video clips of ABBA, Swedish pop music group, and successors The Ark. His first Oscar nomination takes place with My four-legged life in 1988, while the second one gets The rules of the cider house.
From the first wife Malou, with whom he was married from 1974 to 1981, he had a son, Johan (1976).
