LITTLE MOLE

Synopsis
One day people with bulldozers and excavators appear at the edge of the forest. The animals watch impotently as their forest disappears. Then a helicopter appears from which come out several men who, after laying the foundation stone of the new city, will notice the small desperate mole and her friends who have lost their home. Here's how the mole finds himself in a big city overwhelmed by cars and skyscrapers. City life is not the right thing for animals that still want the forest ...

He was born in Kladno, a city west of Prague, in what was then Czechoslovakia.
His taste for drawing dates back to his childhood; in 1936 he entered the National School of Graphic Design in Prague. He later studied at the College of Applied Arts in Prague (Uměleckoprůmyslová Škola Praha). He began his career in 1942 in the Bat'a studio in Zlín, where he specialized in the production of animated films. After World War II, he started working for the animation film production company Bratří v triku, where he started as a draftsman, and later as a director. He eventually took over the company.
Author of about seventy films, his most famous character, a small mole (Krtek or Krteček in his native language), is present in at least fifty short films.
In the 70s he made a series of short films starring Cvrček, the cricket musician.
