MELCHIADE COLETTI
Melchiade Coletti (Rome, 25 October 1922) is an Italian screenwriter and film director.
In January 1942 he left for war as a chosen infantryman. With various health problems he arrived at the unlimited leave in July 1946. During his hospital stay in Rome, Forlanini made friends with the painter Achille Pace.
In 1947 he was entrusted with the artistic direction of the Canesi Gallery in Rome, where he met various personalities of the period such as Antonio Vangelli, Renato Guttuso, Giulio Turcato, Giovanni Omiccioli and Giorgio de Chirico.
In 1949 Coletti began a period of study and travel in Europe to deepen the cinema. His first screenplays date back to the period of the Italian western. In 1965 he wrote, under the pseudonym of Mel Collins, 7 dollars on the red and in 1967 Gentleman Jo ... kill.
In 1968 he wrote three medium-length films on the theme of color for the Expofilm in Munich, from the titles Light and Color, Color in Architecture and Living in Color. During his career he has written several screenplays on love stories (The Principle of Pleasure, 1970, Love and Anger, 1968, The Lady of Paris, 1962), others that related to the political history he himself experienced during the war and more current stories of the Neapolitan mafia or Camorra (Carne Fresca, 1975; Seven steps from death, 1975).
In 1976 he directed the film "Sfida sul fondo", played by Frederick Stafford, Enzo Maiorca and Dagmar Lassander. The film won the 2nd prize at the Giffoni film festival in the same year.
