BALTASAR KORMÁKUR Is an actor and director that works for theater, cinema and television. Born in Reykjavik, in Iceland, he graduated as an actor at the Iceland Academy of Arts in 1990. After several experience as actor and director on the stage, in 2000 he wrote directed, starred in and produced the film 101 Reykjavik, an international success, winner of the Discovery Award at the Toronto International Film Festival. Shortly after that, Baltasar founded Blueeyes Productions, later renamed RVK Studios, and since then he kept on writing, producing and directing films, among which. His films THE SEA, A LITTLE TRIP TO HEAVEN, MÝRIN E WHITE NIGHT WEDDING and THE DEEP that debuted at the Toronto International Film Festival in 2012 and was Oscar® nominated in the best foreign language film category. From 2008 Kormákur directed and produced several international films: EVEREST, INHALE (2010), CONTRABAND, 2 GUNS. Kormákur directed, co-wrote and starred in his most recent Icelandic film, THE OATH, his first time in front of the camera after eight years. The had seven Edda Award nominations and won six. Kormákur, with his RVK Studios, has also ventured into television, with the acclaimed TRAPPED series. Kormákur is currently expanding RVK Studios, which will serve not only as a production company, but also as a 'creative village' dedicated to cinema, television, production and artists who create new projects.
