Carlos Saldanha
After his studies at the School of Visual Arts in New York, he earned a Master of Fine Arts degree in animation and continues to teach and advise students in the school's animation program. His first short, TIME FOR LOVE, was screened at several festivals and he won several awards, including the People's Choice Award at Images du Futur in Montreal. In 1993, he joined the creative team at Blue Sky Studios directing animating TV commercials for which he won international prizes. He was the supervising animator for the talking and dancing cockroaches in JOE'S APARTMENT (1996), director of animation for the computer-generated characters in A SIMPLE WISH (1997) and the penguin dream sequence in FIGHT CLUB (1999). As co-director of the 2002 animated feature ICE AGE (2002), Saldana was nominated for both Annie and DVD Exclusive awards. He was then nominated for an Academy Award in 2004 for directing the animated short film GONE NUTTY, featuring the Ice Age character Scrat. Saldanha also co-directed the animated feature ROBOTS (2005), ICE AGE 2: THE MELTDOWN (2006).

Carlos Saldanha, dopo gli studi alla Scuola d’Arti Visive di New York, si laurea in animazione e continua a insegnare e ad assistere gli studenti che partecipano al programma di animazione della scuola. Il suo primo cortometraggio, TIME FOR LOVE, è stato presentato in vari festival e vince diversi premi, tra cui il Premio del Pubblico al Festival Images du Futur di Montreal. Nel 1993, si unisce al team creativo dei Blue Sky Studios dirigendo spot pubblicitari animati, per i quali viene più volte premiato. È stato supervisore all’animazione per il personaggio dello scarafaggio parlante che danza in JOE'S APARTMENT (1996), direttore dell’animazione per i personaggi computerizzati di A SIMPLE WISH (1997) e per la sequenza del sogno del pinguino in FIGHT CLUB (1999). Nel 2002 è co-regista di L’ERA GLACIALE (2002). Due anni dopo riceve la nomination all’Oscar per la direzione del cortometraggio GONE NUTTY, con Scrat. Saldanha ha co-diretto anche ROBOTS (2005) e L’ERA GLACIALE 2 - IL DISGELO (2006).
