Synopsis
Friday night on a council estate on the outskirts of Copenhagen. 19-year-old Per, is badly beaten up and taken to hospital in a coma. His mother, Søs, can’t help feeling that she is responsible for Per’s predicament because she has insisted on living in a area most whites abandoned long ago. Now her son is hovering between life and death, but in the papers he is merely one more headline about ghetto violence. Mie, Per’s 16-year-old sister seeks solace from her boyfriend, Shadi, whose parents are from Palestine. But Shadi finds it hard to comfort her, because that same night he has seen his elder brother, who has a previous conviction for assault, washing blood off his clothing in the bathroom at home. Shadi holds his tongue as his doubts grow.
