Synopsis
Xiao Chun is thirteen years old and a talented violinist. Timid and sensitive, the boy finds it easier to express himself through his music rather than through words, convinced that music brings him closer to the mother he has never met. In fact Xiao was brought up by his father, Liu Cheng, a cook who has invested all his hopes in his son’s success. He is convinced that only by studying in Beijing can the boy become a great musician. Armed with their meagre savings and strong determination, father and son go to the big city where Xiao Chun has been invited to attend an audition which, if he is accepted, enable him to attend a famous music school. The lights and the grandeur of Bejing have a great effect on the boy, but above all Xiao Chun is fascinated by a sexy and vivacious girl he sees briefly at the station and who is destined to become his first love.
