Sir Alan William Parker (Islington, February 14, 1944) is a director, screenwriter, film producer, writer (and rarely actor) British. Mostly he works in the United States. His film curriculum includes different genres: the director often returns to the musical (They will be famous) but is also known for court dramas, such as Midnight Fugue. In his work there are also literary adaptations, which are perhaps his best films.
Enter the world of cinema initially as a creator of commercials and commercial films on behalf of various agencies. Later, together with Alan Marshall, with whom he had founded a production company, he became a producer himself and finally director of his commercials. With this activity he won numerous awards and industry awards. From this period is the series of commercials made for Cinzano, starring Joan Collins and Leonard Rossiter.
A considerable part of his film production has music as its subject or is in some way related to it. Belonging to this vein are Little Gangsters, They Will Be Famous, Pink Floyd The Wall, The Commitments and Evita.
In addition to numerous film awards and prizes, Alan Parker was named "Sir" by the Queen of England for artistic merit.
