Giffoni Film Festival 2017

The first special event awaited at Giffoni 2017 in collaboration with 20th Century Fox will focus on the acclaimed box office bestselling saga PLANET OF THE APES. The screening of Rise of the Planet of the Apes (2011) directed by Rupert Wyatt starts at 2.30pm in Sala Lumière: in a pharmaceutical company’s lab in San Francisco, young researcher Will Rodman is testing on chimpanzees the effects of a virus that might turn out to be a potential cure for Alzheimer’s disease.
The long-awaited ribbon cutting, in the presence of thousands of youth, civil, military and religious authorities, is set for Thursday 13 July at 10.30, on the eve of the Giffoni Film Festival 47th edition.
The magic is about to start for the 4.600 juros from 52 Countries: the real protagonists of the 47th Giffoni Film Festival edition scheduled from 14 to 22 July. The 47th edition was presented on 6th July in the morning at the Casa del Cinema in Rome. The creator and director Claudio Gubitosi together with his artistic staff Antonia Grimaldi, Luca Apolito, Gianvincenzo Nastasi and Manlio Castagna, Giffoni Innovation Hub CEO Luca Tesauro, Giffoni Experience chairman Piero Rinaldi, the mayor of Giffoni Valle Piana Antonio Giuliano, the Director of the cinema directorate MiBACT Nicola Borrelli and the President of the Campania Region Vincenzo De Luca.
One of the most acclaimed actresses in Hollywood, Julianne Moore is set to visit the 47thGiffoni Film Festival (14 – 22 July, 2017), where she will meet the international jury of youth and receive the François Truffaut Award on 16 July.
The actor is set to introduce the film, based on Nicola Yoon's best seller. The film hits Italian theatres on September 21 thanks to Warner Bros. Pictures
