DARKEST MINDS, THE WATER CARPET BECOMES TINGED WITH ALL THE COLORS OF THE RAINBOW

Colorful hands raised towards the sky in a downpour of confetti welcomed the Italian première of Darkest Minds, based on Alexandra Bracken’s book series of the same name and set for release in Italy on August 14, a hymn to the beauty of diversity. The film, set in a dystopian reality, revolves around Ruby (Amandla Stenberg from Hunger Games), a girl who’s mysteriously developed special powers. Following an unknown epidemic, the government has decided to separate the youth by color, each one related to a different skill. That’s why the Giffoni audience chose the colors of the film’s groups to symbolize uniqueness, as well as a deep sense of affiliation. A few jurors also walked down the carpet all together wearing the film’s monochromatic T-shirts, with no more color “separation”.
