ASIA ARGENTO TO GRACE GIFFONI FILM FESTVAL ON 21 LUGLIO

THE TALENT SET TO RECEIVE THE 2015 GIFFONI AWARD

In 1988 she won the Gryphon for her lead role in Zoo

Asia Argento is the first Italian talent to be announced by Giffoni Experience. The actress, screen play writer, photographer and director is set to meet the 3600 jurors on 21 July at the 45th edition of the Giffoni Film Festival, taking place from 17 to 26 July in Giffoni valle Piana (Sa) Italy.

The multihyphenate artist will receive the Giffoni Award 2015. In 1988 she had already been graced by Giffoni Film Festival with her first award, the Gryphon, for her great performance in Zoo, by Cristina Comencini. In 2000, after 12 years, Asia Argento came back to Giffoni to sponsor the opening night of the 30th annual.

Dario Argento, her father and talent inspiration launched her in 1985, when she was 10, in RAI production Sogni e bisogni while, twelve months later she was cast by Lamberto Bava in Demoni 2. Her career took off with Cristina Comencini's Zoo, followed by Michele Soavi's The Church. Then she went on to work with Nanni Moretti in Palombella Rossa. Le amiche del cuore by Michele Placido.

In 1993 she was directed by her father in the shock-movie Trauma. The following year she was on the other side of the camera for her directorial debut in a fragment-Prospettive - However the big break came with her role as a stubborn girl with special abilities that drove Carlo Verdone crazy in Perdiamoci Di Vista!, for which she won the David di Donatello for best actress.

After the huge success in Italy she flew to France to shoot La regina Margot besides Isabelle Adjani. In 1996, she was in The Stendhal Syndrome by Dario Argento's and in La compagna di viaggio byMichel Piccoli, for which she won her second David di Donatello. In 1998 she flew to the States: where she played beside the likes of Walken-Dafoe in the mystery spy story New Rose Hotel, and with Rupert Everett, in B. Monkey-.Once back in Italy she was directed again by her father in the gothic remake of Phantom of the Opera.

She made her directorial debut in a feature film with Scarlet Diva: . in the flick she plays the role of an erotic movie starlet. She then went on to star in flicks such as Ingannevole è il cuore più di ogni cosaLast Days, Marie Antoinette, in which she plays Comtesse Du Barry and Transylvania in which she is in search of her lost love.

in 2007she starred in Dario Argentos' La terza madre, final ghastly episode of the mater-trilogy which includes Suspiria and Inferno. Between 2007 and 2008 she was in Une Vieille Maitresse, and then she played an ex prostitute in the noxious  Boarding Gate, a stripper in Abel Ferrara's black comedyGo Go Tales and starred in Coin Locker Babies, based on Japanese Ryu Muratami's novel. In 2009 she played together with Gérard Depardieu and Oliver Marchal in Diamond 13. In 2012 she starred in Matteo Rovere's feature film, Gli Sfiorati alongside Claudio Santamaria, Andrea Bosca and Miriam Giovanelli. The film was based on the novel that goes with the same name by Tuscan writer Sandro Veronesi. She was directed by her father again in Dracula 3D.

In 2014she starred in Shongram, Regular Boy and miniseries Rodolfo Valentino - The legend.
