Gino Paoli: "Multinational power tries to override the rules"

"We are the Italian songwriters who manage to live making music": welcomed by a standing ovation and by a choir of people singing "Sapore di sale", Gino Paoli, musician and Siae Chairman, gave a Masterclass about copyright to Giffoni Experience's youth. The meeting was also attended by Gaetano Blandini, general manager.

"Today, songs are uploaded on websites and their success is related to how many times they are listened to. Websites are a great chance but multinational power tries to override the rules", siad Gino Paoli, standing up for playwriters' rights. "The number of talent shows has increased today. Youth hit the big time when they record their first album, but if the second one doesn't make a hit with the audience, they won't record anymore. You must be passionate about this job. How to be an artist? Keep playing. And be youself without being influenced by other's opinions. It doesn't mind if you're young or old, you must be free to choose for youself", added Gino Paoli.

To conclude, Blandini announced a surprise for Giffoni jurors: "We've been working on several projects to help youth and adults in trouble and we've been supporting young artists who live in jail or in a hospital. Furthermore, we decided that Giffoni 2014 jurors won't pay Siae fee for the first two years, if they want to join Siae".
