Modern society demands and sometimes dictates that one must be efficient. It is a universal: it also applies to children, and young people. JUST SUPER, a feature film in competition for the Elements +6 section, flips this perspective. The jurors attending the screening get a message: you don't have to be a superhero to become perfect. The protagonist of this story - set in Norway with the direction of Rasmus A. Sivertsen- is 11-year-old Hedvig. Everyone has high expectations set on her because they believe - because of her heritage, DNA, and conventions - that she can replace her father, the superhero of the town in which she lives. An inner struggle begins: Hedvig feels she is not up to the challenges she faces; they are far more complex than her father-coach anticipated. The man soon realises that perhaps it would be better to focus his attention on his athletic nephew Adrian. Frustrated by what has happened, the young girl turns to her grandmother, who is her salvation: not only does she listen to her, but also has the right ideas to help her regain her self-confidence and enable her to overcome the challenges. Unbeknownst to her, without realising it or wanting to, she becomes her father's heir. "Many, many children today are subjected to the pressure of their surroundings. What is the message? You are super as you are, and you don't have to live according to others' expectations. My son inspired me with this story. At school he struggled a lot: he wanted to be super, but his dyslexia made things difficult for him," says the director.
