Films, togetherness and cheerfulness. These were the ingredients that marked the "Chemnitz Mission", which saw Anna Falivene of the Direction Team together with giffoners Maria Luisa Coviello, Serena De Santis and Alessandro Sorrentino taking part in the Schlingel International Film Festival.
Schlingel is an international film festival for children and young people that takes place annually in the town of Chemnitz, Saxony. Established in 1996, this major event gives an overview of the newest international productions in the area of children and youth films and is organized by the Sächsische Kinder-und Jugendfilmdienst e.V. (Saxon Children and Youth Films Association) in Chemnitz and the Sächsische Landesanstalt für privaten Rundfunk und neue Medien (Saxon Institute for Private Broadcasting and New Media).
It was an unforgettable experience. The emotions you feel there can't be described; you have so much responsibility, but that's exactly why you have so much fun, the giffoners said. We even wrote our own award speech and delivered it on the last day to the Schlingel audience. We got to talk to directors, actors and producers in person, discussing films and much more. This was an experience that made us grow, not only in terms of culture, critique and films, but also as human beings. And it's not over yet, because this is going to be another month full of comings and goings for Giffoni.
