Morcone to the giffoners of Impact!: “Never despise the invisibles who fight for a better tomorrow”

The topic of human life is the focus of the meeting between Regional Councillor for Safety and Immigration Mario Morcone and the giffoners of the Impact! section. “In recent years too many people have been left to their tragic fate for ideological reasons and electoral consensus” Councillor Morcone affirmed immediately attuning to the 52nd edition of the Festival, dedicated to the “invisibles”. “I think about those people who leave their countries not only for reasons strictly connected to war conflicts, but also because they have been made desperate by a life devoid of a horizon of meaning and dignity. These people want to build a better future for both themselves and their loved ones somewhere else. They are economic migrants, even if some call them illegal immigrants. It is an unacceptable definition. We should never despise who fights for a better tomorrow”. Born in Caserta and become Neapolitan by adoption, Morcone has been a Senior Ministry of the Interior Official for forty-four years. In his opinion, “the government has a duty to be close to the weakest women and men, securing support and integration for the migrants”. But, from this point of view, he doesn’t share some general decisions: “Reception centres of huge dimensions are not the best solution because they are difficult to manage. The risk is that of fanning the flames of social conflicts. The infrastructures of reception have to be of contained dimensions. Only this way it is possible to have a real control and enforce the rules”. The Regional Councillor focuses on those who operate, out of politics and institutions, in support of migrants: “In the Campania region there are so many associations engaged in the front line. However, this world, hard-working and full of humanity, needs to network in order to have a greater impact”.
