Here are the first guests of #Giffoni2022: Lunetta Savino, Micaela Ramazzotti, Sergio Rubini, Erri De Luca, Oliviero Toscani, Valerio Nicolosi, Cecilia Sala and Giorgia Soleri

More than 5,000 jurors from all over the world are now ready to welcome the most brilliant personalities from culture, show business, sports, journalism, institutions and science. They will be the protagonists of the 52nd edition of Giffoni Film Festival, to be held from July 21st to 30th. Besides them, the rich schedule of the event includes over 250 guests. Crowd-pleaser LUNETTA SAVINO (21st July) will be attending the festival among other guests yet to be announced. With over 25 films and 20 tv series to her credit, she’s a versatile actress able to beautifully embody light-hearted as well as twisted characters. She landed her breakthrough role in 1998 as Cettina Gargiulo in Rai tv series Un medico in famiglia. As for the big screen, she counts two major works among others: a role in Ferzan Ozpetek’s Saturno Contro (2006) and Mine Vaganti (2009). She was bestowed the Nastro D’Argento for the latter, and in 2022 starred as a main character in Studio Battaglia.

One of the most fascinating talents of the Italian show business scenario, MICAELA RAMAZZOTTI (23rd July), after living thousands of different lives on screen, is now going to try a brand new role off screen, as a film director. She’s best known for: La prima cosa bella, Posti in piedi in Paradiso, Il nome del figlio, La pazza gioia. In 2021 she was directed by Michele Placido in L’ombra di Caravaggio, soon to be released in theaters. In 2022 she played the role of Lea Garofalo in the Disney+ series The Good Mothers, available on the streaming platform next year. Her directorial debut film Felicità will be released in 2023, a desired turning point for many actors in their career.

Another guest eager to come back and meet his fans is SERGIO RUBINI (27th July). Giffoni will award him a special prize for his special sensibility in telling powerful stories. As an actor he worked for filmmakers of the caliber of Federico Fellini, Giuseppe Piccioni, Sergio Citti, Carlo Verdone, Giuseppe Tornatore, Francesca Archibugi, Michele Placido, Gabriele Salvatores, Giovanni Veronesi, Alessandro D'Alatri, Susanna Nicchiarelli and Paolo Genovese. He also took part in international productions such as Anthony Minghella and Mirka Rachid Benhadj’s The Talented Mr. Ripley, Mel Gibson’s The Passion of the Christ, and The Story of My Wife, directed by Ildikó Enyedi. He wrote and directed many films too, including the latest I Fratelli De Filippo.

Big hype about the Impact! section, a workshop of critical thinking and analysis open to 200 young people. On the opening day Giffoni will host the author, activist and intellectual ERRI DE LUCA (21st July), offering giffoners the unique chance to come in contact with one of the brightest minds of our time. On the same day the section will also welcome OLIVIERO TOSCANI (21st July), known as the mastermind behind famous brands and magazines spread all over the world. Through the years he worked on commercials for Esprit, Chanel, Robe di Kappa, Fiorucci, Prenatal, Jesus, Inter, Snai, Toyota, the Italian Ministry of Labor and Ministry of Health, Artemide, Woolworth and others. Collaborations with the Italian Ministry of Health and Environment, Regione Calabria, and Fondazione Umberto Veronesi are some of the latest projects he took part in, together with some social awareness campaigns about road safety, anorexia, gender-based violence and dog straying. Then, two voices which are able to narrate news and explain the present in a dynamic and fresh way: they are VALERIO NICOLOSI and CECILIA SALA (23rd July). The former is a journalist, film director and photographer. He’s also editor for the magazine MicroMega, dealing with political reporting. He directed the documentary film Ants, about migration routes to Europe, and other politically and socially engaged films. In 2018 his book (R)Esistenze came out, and his latest work Mediterraneo has been recently published by Einaudi. The latter, Cecilia Sala, is author and narrating voice of Stories, daily podcast by Chora Media which accounts stories from all over the world. She’s co-author, together with Chiara Lalli, of the podcast Polvere, later turned into a book for Mondadori Strade Blu. Finally, Impact! will welcome GIORGIA SOLERI (21st July). She’s a 26-year-old writer, activist and influencer committed to feminist issues. Through her spontaneous and honest attitude, she gets her followers into social battles and political commitment.

The official opening of the 52nd edition of the Giffoni Film Festival is due to be held on Thursday, July 21st. Until then, while waiting for the names of institutional guests to be announced, starting from 7 p.m. a colorful march for Peace will stroll the city, involving all of the 5,000 jurors coming from 33 different countries. They will be warmly welcomed by traditional flag-wavers from Cava de’ Tirreni and by young musicians of Sonora Junior Sax. Starting from Multimedia Valley, jurors will parade holding their countries’ flags all the way through Giffoni Valle Piana up to the Arena, which will be filled with music by Contact Tour DolceVita. Once there, this new edition will start in the name of integration, interaction and dialogue between peoples.
