Benedetta Porcaroli at #Giffoni: “Let’s not hide our flaws”

Benedetta Porcaroli, guest at #Giffoni50, is a natural and glowing beauty, a carefree and fresh look of simplicity and spontaneity. “You are beautiful, I’d like to ask you so many questions. I’d like you to talk to me about Giffoni, although looking at you is enough for me to discover its beauty. I’m breathing in beauty, this is a breath of fresh air. I could stay here for hours to look at you and look at each other”.

She plays the role of Chiara in the Netflix serie Baby, which deals with the teen sex scandal of Parioli, a wealthy district in Rome. “When I was a child I used to hang around that area and when they proposed this series to me I was happy. On one hand, there was a great emotional involvement, on the other hand, I wanted to do justice to such a complex story. I could not imagine such a great success, the melancholic and disenchanted side of Chiara is similar to mine. I never thought of becoming an actress. It was my salvation - she said - I didn’t expect what has happened to me and thinking about it now is a bit strange. It all started with an audition and the following month I already had an exclusivity contract for four years. I ended up on a set without even slightly imagining what would happen, it was a wonderful leap in the dark”.

To the giffoners she leaves a message against body shaming: “When I was younger they would make fun of me because I had small breasts. Today on social media we end up criticising cellulite or a few extra kilos, we bitterly judge every detail. This behaviour is scary and alarming, we can’t pretend this is acceptable. Let’s stop using social media as a means to get rid of our frustrations - she said - let’s share beauty and simplicity. Let’s share spontaneity, these beautiful things that surround us”.
