Giffoni Masterclass 2017, 16 incredible meetings for Masterclass Jurors

Giffoni Masterclass, is the special section for in depth analysis of the Giffoni Film Festival (14 22 July 2017) organized in collaboration with BadTaste.it.
Eight mornings of great cinema, 16 incredible meetings with more than 20 fantastic testimonials, reserved to 100 young people from 18 to 25, make up the programme of the section which was created nine years ago, aimed at creating a bridge between the talents of today and the professionals of tomorrow, through a direct, positive unique discussion.

Helmed by cinema critic Francesco Alò, film editor of Badtaste.it and of the daily 'Il Messaggero, the 'masterclassers' will analyze the guests' main works in the morning while in the afternoon they will be interacting with directors, actors and authors to find out more about the creative process. Some of the meetings will be moderated by Neapolitan journalist Gianmaria Tammaro (La Stampa, Il Foglio, Best Movie, Wired, GQ. 8 e mezzo).

The section kicks off on Friday 14 July, with "Sicilian Ghost Story" which will be presented by directors and writers ANTONIO PIAZZA and FABIO GRASSADONIA. The film, opened on 18 May while it was being presented at the Semaine de la critique at the Cannes Festival and is based on a true story. The two authors won the Best Screenplay Award at the 2016 Sundance Film Festival.
On Saturday 15 July: writer PAOLO GIORDANO, winner of the Strega award for his bestseller "La solitudine dei numeri primi" (Mondadori) which he also adapted for the big screen; On the same day actors FRANCESCO MONTANARI and FRANCESCO APOLLONI, co-stars of the recent "Ovunque tu sarai" (2017) - for which Apolloni has also written the screen play - and the authors of the Mad Entertainment by Luciano Stella, the Neapolitan factory - notable for the multi-awarded "L'arte della felicità" by Alessandro Rak.

On Sunday 16 July FABIO GUAGLIONE and FABIO RESINARO (alias Fabio & Fabio) will talk about the huge succcess of their first feature "Mine" (2016), psychological thriller based on the story of a Marines sniper who is trapped standing on a landmine. On Sunday the 16th is also the turn of IGINIO STRAFFI, founder and chairman of the Rainbow Group, the biggest animation study in Europe which has made a name for itself thanks to his visionary guide and thanks to the many successes of its TV shows and films such as the acclaimed "Winx Club" and the new productions"Regal Academy" and "Maggie & Bianca Fashion Friends".
On Monday 17 July, the masterclassers will have the chance to discuss with director and screenplay writer ALESSANDRO D'ALATRI about his recent "The Startup, accendi il tuo futuro" (2017), which focuses on the young creator of the social network Egomnia. On the same day they will also meet MARCO GIALLINI, one of the most acclaimed Italian actors, starring in comedies, of recent years ("Tutta colpa di Freud", "Perfetti Sconosciuti" per cui ha vinto il Ciak d'Oro, "Beata ignoranza").
On Tuesday 18 July, CLAUDIO AMENDOLA will meet the Masterclassers. He has recently directed his second film "Il permesso – 48 ore fuori", which opened in 2017, 4 years after his debut with his first featyre "La mossa del pinguino") which came after a long career as an actor; on the same day the jurors will meet CASA SURACE, factory and Neapolitan production company which has now become a real online social community.
On Wednesday 19 July, GIOVANNI VERONESI ("Manuale d'amore", "Che ne sarà di noi") will talk to the jurors about his latest movie "Non è un paese per giovani" (2017), focuses on the'exodus' of young people from Italy from the perspective of a sensitive director.

On Thursday 20 July, EDOARDO DE ANGELIS ("Mozzarella Story", "Perez.") and his multi-award winner "Indivisibili": six David di Donatello Awards, a Nastro d'Argento and six Ciak d'Oro are just some of the many awards the young film director from Napoli has won for his fourth feature.
Last but not least on Friday 21 July the section will host GIORGIO COLANGELI, one of the most prominent figures of Italian theatre and Oscar award winner GABRIELE SALVATORES who will give a Masterclass on his cinema before receiving the Truffaut Award.
