BLOOM ENCHANTS GIFFONI: LIFE IS AN OPPORTUNITY, TAKE IT!

Opportunity” was Orlando Bloom’s most spoken word during his meeting with Generation jurors, in the second last and eagerly awaited day of GFF 45.

As a Unicef Goodwill Ambassador, he knows how to talk to children, which he proved telling about himself as easily as only great people can do. He knows very well what “seizing the day” means, having risked his own life at the age of 21.

«When I was 21 – he explained – and I used to live my life with the typical carelessness of youth, I risked dying and for some time I feared that I might not be able to walk again. I’ve been very lucky then to escape unharmed and I learnt a very important lesson: life is a series of challenges following one another and challenges is what makes us move forward. I’m sure you know that, ‘cause you have to face bullism and other difficult situations. Challenges are opportunities that help us grow».

Therefore he urged the young audience to live every day to the fullest, to take every opportunity life gives: «You all have a major responsibility, to yourself in the first place, that is living your life to the fullest and being aware of what kind of traces you want to leave behind you. Make full use of your minds as well as of the social media, which didn’t exist in my time, in order to improve the world. Don’t just care for  your Instagram pics, but rather try to do what you can to make the world you live in a better place.

Then, to Giffoni jurors only, he revealed a little bit about his return to Pirates of the Caribbean 5: «I'll have a small role, but I like the chance to reintroduce the character of Will on the big screen. I'll also present you his son», he said to those who have been waiting for his return since the end of the third chapter.

By no means jealous of his success ("I like thinking that it hasn't changed me at all"), Orlando disclosed his "secret" to the youth: «Remain true to yourself, follow your dreams and be humble. Fame and money don't make you happy». He finally exhorted to live just like a Hobbit: «Legolas has been the biggest gift I've ever received. It made me mature as an actor and it showed me that, no matter how little you are, you'll always have the chance to change the world in many different ways you can't even imagine». And this quite seems to be the story of Giffoni Film Festival.
