Films in competition, july 20

The mourning process, teenage rebellion, the tireless pursuit of happiness: that’s just a few of the sensitive topics covered by the six films in competition on Tuesday July 21.

Screenings start at 10.00 in Sala Truffaut with Other Girls (Finland, 2015), directed by Esa Illi and addressed to Generator +16 youth. The plot interweaves four different stories and is based on a series of scandalous, controversial and subversive video diaries made by four young girls from Helsinki in 2011.

Coin Locker Girl by Han Jun-Hee (South Korea, 2015), is on schedule at 10.00 in Sala Cinema/Teatro Lumière for Generator +18 section. It draws its inspiration from  Korean cloak-and-dagger movies and tells the story of a just-born-baby who gets abandoned in a coin-locker in a subway station.

Thread Of Lies (South Korea, 2014), directed by Lee Han, approaches the delicate subjectof a mother who tries to cope with her daughter’s suicide. The screening, intended for Generator +13 jurors,  is scheduled at 14.30 in Sala Truffaut.

Rainbow, by Nagesh Kukunoor (India, 2015), deals with the journey of two children in the pursuit of happiness through a country which can be generous, magic and cruel at the same time. The date with Elements +6 kids is set at 15.30 in Sala Cinema/Teatro Lumière.

The Shamer's Daughter by Kenneth Kainz (Denmark, 2015) is on schedule for Elements +10 children at 17.00 in Sala Alberto Sordi. The film follows the Shamer’s daughter Dina, who has unwillingly inherited her mother's supernatural ability and can look straight into the soul of other people.

Raven the Little Rascal – The Big Race by Ute von Münchow-Pohl and Sandor Jesse (Germany, 2015) focuses on the adventures of a little raven who gets to understand the value of teamwork, true friendship and responsibility. The film, intended for Elements +3 kids, ends the screening day at 19.30 in Sala Alberto Sordi.
