Ivano De Matteo

He began his artistic career in 1990 by attending the theater workshop "Il Mulino di Fiora", directed by Perla Peragallo. In 1993 he founded the company "Il Cantiere" with her partner Valentina Ferlan (author and screenwriter from Trieste). Ivano debuted as an actor in Michele Placido's film CLOSE FRIENDS (1992). In 2001 he starred in V-MAX, directed by Daniele Vicari. In 2002 he made his directorial debut with the film ULTIMO STADIO. A television production in particular gives him considerable notoriety among the general public: the role of "Er Puma" in the Tv series CRIME NOVEL (2008-2010). In 2009 he directed BEAUTIFUL PEOPLE. In 2010 he worked with the director Alessandro Aronadio on the set of the film ONE LIFE, MAYBE TWO. In 2012 he returned to directing with BALANCING ACT, a film starring among others Valerio Mastandrea and Barbora Bobulova. In 2014 he took part in the 71st Venice International Film Festival in the "Giornate degli Autori" section with THE DINNER. The subject of this film, starring Luigi Lo Cascio, Alessandro Gassmann, Giovanna Mezzogiorno and Barbora Bobulova, is loosely based on the novel The Dinner by Herman Koch. In 2016 he directed LA VITA POSSIBLE starring Margherita Buy and Valeria Golino which will be followed by GUESTS IN THE VILLA (2020) and MIA (2023).
