His love for cinema comes from father Ugo, extraordinary and unforgettable master. With him he first breathed the perfume of what would become his everyday life, his career. Gianmarco Tognazzi came back to Giffoni and soon cinema was ready to rule the day, over an engrossing meeting crowded with emotion and curiosity for a story made of giants of the cinema, passions and dreams.

“The Giffoni Film Festival” – he began greeting the giffoners – is one in a million. It’s a suitable model for everyone, and you also are. Strength lies in knowledge, it means educating an audience of people who love cinema and have developed a passion for it. I’ve heard that several ministers have visited the festival this year. They would do well to take this reality and try to clone and export it. That would save so many things, so many people. His was an appeal for knowledge and enthusiasm, the same features that have always marked his life path, made of bread and cinema.

“I am quite verbose, I could be here talking for hours. There’s no more stimulating thing than this – went on Tognazzi – When I left last time, I regretted not being here with you since the first day. I would like to come back soon and stay throughout the duration of the Festival”.

Tognazzi opened his heart to the jurors: “I wish I were your age to start all over again, I’m an old actor now and I hope you will be tomorrow’s actors, scriptwriters, make-up artists and insiders. Italian cinema has never been so much focused on teenagers – he continued – but there’s unfortunately the bad habit of defining ‘young actors’ those in their fifties like me. That’s crazy, Giffoni’s Generator jurors are young actors and we must help and stimulate young people that, just like you, want to start this career”.
