Films in competition on July 23rd

The third day of the Festival will address some themes related to stories based on family conflict, but also men and women determined to fight against ‘invisible monsters’. At 10:00 a.m. in the Sala Truffaut, the young members of the Generator +13 section will watch the film PETITE SOLANGE (France 2021) by Axelle Ropert. The young Solange, strongly attached to her family, will see all her certainties fall into pieces when her parents start to fight and talk about a divorce. Trying to recover the situation, the girl will be ready for anything to ensure that love continue to live in her home. Afterwards, at 14:30 p.m. the Generator +16 members will be in the same hall to watch QUICKENING (Canada 2021) directed by Haya Waseem. Pakistan nineteen-year-old Sheila, enrolled at the University because her parents are convinced that she has great artistic abilities, will deal with love for the first time. What’s going to happen in her life when she will start a secret love story with Eden and the desire to be freer will take over?


The jurors of Elements +10 will watch, in the Sala Sordi at 10.00 a.m. and at 14:30 p.m., FULL OF GRACE (Spain 2022) by Roberto Bueso. In 1994, the arrival of Sister Marina in a children boarding school, will bring a breath of light-heartedness and positivity. Sister Marina with Angelines, Tatiana and the caretaker Rafa, will decide to create a football team in order to make feel at home all the children that risk remaining homeless. The Elements +6 in the Sala Lumière will be able to watch SUPER FURBALL SAVES THE FUTURE (Finland 2022) directed by Joona Tena. The film is based on a series of books by Paula Noronen. In a context between animation and live action, the protagonist Emily will have only one mission to accomplish: saving the bees to preserve the world diversity. But to make sure that this will happen, she will be forced to rescue the school bully.

In the Sala Galileo at 10:00 a.m. the members of the Generator +18 section will watch the film MIKADO (Romania/Czech Republic 2021) directed by Emanuel Pârvu. The troubled relationship between a father and his daughter is put to the test when the man decides to start a relationship with another woman after the death of the girl’s mother. Further complicating the situation is that the father thinks that his daughter lied about the disappearance of an expensive necklace, actually given to a child suffering from cancer. What’s going to happen when the truth will come out and the choices of the past will bring serious consequences in their present?

At 14:45 p.m. in the Sala Galileo it will be screened the film ROSY (France 2021) directed by Marine Barnèrias for the Gex Doc section. Twenty-year-old Marine, after finding out to have multiple sclerosis, will have to deal with some choices that will change her existence. But, before facing the real problems, the young woman, will decide to go on a journey across three countries. New Zealand to rediscover her body; Burma to calm her mind and Mongolia to rediscover her soul. Through the restoration of this new equilibrium, Marine will be able to face the disease, nicknamed Rosy.
