Films in competition on July 27th

The seventh day of the Festival will feature stories in which a single word rules: courage. Among fictional and real-life stories, fighting in the name of justice against all forms of crime is the only thing that counts for the young protagonists. The Generator +16 jurors will start the day in the theatre at 10:00 a.m. with the screening of the film CRAJITA (Dominican Republic/Argentina 2021) directed by Silvina Schnicer and Ulises Porra. Yarisa, an housekeeper employed by a wealthy family, returns to her hometown with her employers and reunites with her original family, albeit being considered little more than a stranger. Turning the tables will be a tragedy unfolding in one night.

Next, at 2:30 p.m., the members of the Generator +13 section will watch COMEDY QUEEN (Sweden 2022) directed by Sanna Lenken. After her mother commits suicide, the 13-year-old Sasha refuses to cry despite her grief. In order to exorcise it, she decides to become a cabaret performer, so as not to make people stop smiling, especially her father. Meanwhile, in the Sala Sordi, Elements +10 jurors at 10:00 a.m. and then again at 2.30 p.m. will watch THE PATH (Germany) directed by Tobias Wiemann. In 1940, Rolf and his dog Adi, together with his father Ludwig, escape from the Nazis to New York to visit Rolf's mother. They will embark on a real odyssey made of unexpected adventures heading to the unknown. The young jurors of Elements +6 in the Sala Lumière at 10:00 a.m. and then again at 2.30 p.m. will watch VINSKI AND THE INVISIBLE POWDER (Finland 2021) directed by Juha Wuolijoki. The fictional town of Hömpstad, shrouded in the grip of crime, needs a superhero. Filling this role will be Vinski, a ten-year-old boy who, after taking a special powder from a pharmacist, will develop powers like invisibility and passing through walls. Troubles will start when a criminal gang takes an interest in this baby champion of justice.
Trouble will begin as a criminal gang starts taking an interest in this baby champion of justice.

In the Sala Galileo, the older jurors of Generator +18 will watch HOLY EMY (Greece/France/USA 2021) by Araceli Lemos. The return to the Philippines of Emy and Teresa's mother pushes the two girls to want to live separate lives in Athens. While Teresa finds out that she is pregnant by a Greek sailor, Emy becomes interested in the practice of alternative medicine. The Gex Doc section will bring the day to an end with Alison Millar's film LYRA (Ireland/UK 2021). A docu-film dedicated to the life and death of the young Northern Irish journalist Lyra McKee, an LGBTQ+ movement supporter, which occurred in April 2019.
