The call for submissions of the films in competition at the 52nd edition of Giffoni, to be held from July 21 to 30, is now open

The call for submissions for the official section of the 52nd edition of the Giffoni Film Festival, scheduled from July 21 to 302022, is now open for feature films, short films (both fiction and animated films) and documentaries. The deadline for applications is May 31. The Festival is organized, promoted and financed by the Giffoni Experience and co-financed by the Campania Region and the Directorate-General for Cinema of the Ministry of Culture, with the support of the Municipality of Giffoni Valle Piana. The event will be attended by many jurors, giffoners, talents, representatives of culture, politics and institutions. For over half a century, Giffoni has been a privileged stage for film productions intended for children, young people and teenagers, as well as one of the main hubs for promoting dialogue among producers, authors, distributors and audiences.

Films produced as from January 2021 or premiered as from June 2021 will be taken into consideration; priority will be given to unreleased films. As regards feature films, the presentation of the films at other Italian festivals, their release in cinemas or airing on television or streaming platforms in Italy are reasons for exclusion from the selection. The short films must be compulsory submitted through one of the platforms available on the website www.giffonifilmfestival.it (Eventival or FilmFreeway). All the required data must be entered and the film must be either uploaded (Filmfreeway) or a link must be provided to allow it to be viewed (Eventival). No fee will be charged for the submission of films.

For each section of the competition, the Gryphon Award will be presented to the best feature film and the best short film. Applicants can submit their films in eight different sections:

Elements +3 (animated short films for children aged 3 to 5 + feature films out of competition);

Elements +6 (fiction and animated feature and short films for a target audience aged 6 to 9);

Elements +10 (fiction and animated feature and short films for a target audience aged 10 to 12);

Generator +13 (fiction and animated feature films for a target audience aged 13 to 15);

Generator +16 (fiction and animated feature films for a target audience aged 16 to 18);

Generator +18 (fiction and animated feature films targeting adults);

GEX Doc (documentaries − feature films only − on childhood and adolescence);

Parental Experience (fiction and animated short films).

The selection of the films will be made at the unquestionable judgement of Giffoni’s artistic management, which will notify the final results of the feature films/documentaries exclusively to the production and distribution companies of the selected films by June 16, 2022.
