Biography

Alexandre Espigares is a Luxembourgian director and animator. His animation works include many important projects such as Lucasfilm’s animated television series, "Star Wars - The Clone Wars", and 9 feature films, including "Happy Feet 2" and "Iron Man 3". In 2018 he directed his first animated feature film, "Croc-Blanc", based on the novel "White Fang" by Jack London.

In 2014 he won an Oscar for Best Animated Short Film with "Mr. Hublot", which he co-directed. His career is a 17-year-long international one that spans 4 continents. Over the years his assignments have led him to France, Singapore, Australia, Canada and Germany, where he currently lives and works. After graduating from the animation department of the Lycée Technique des Arts et Métiers (LTAM) in Luxembourg, he began his career as a CG animator, giving life to characters and creatures for the big and small screen. He is a teacher and lecturer at animation schools and international film festivals, including the Animation Workshop in Viborg (Denmark), the University of Applied Sciences in Mainz (Germany), the Annecy International Animated Film Festival (France), the Animation Day in Munich (Germany) and the Tbilisi International Film Festival (Georgia).
