MOVIE DAYS ON TOUR IN DORGALI, GIFFONI IN SARDEGNA SETS OFF WITH OVER 300 STUDENTS

Over 300 students from several schools in Sardinia from Ghilarza (OR) and Dorgali (NU) gathered to enjoy and take part to the first stage of Movie Days on Tour in Sardegna.

The movie days for schools organized by Giffoni Experience with the support of local authorities in Dorgali and by ''Impresa Sociale Nuovi Scenari' (directed by Pino D'Antonio), took off at the theatre 'Cineteatro in 'via Veneto'.

"Giffoni has brought cinema home – said Antonella Noi, teacher from a Comprehensive school in Dorgali - it's easier to get messages across with a nice, sensitive, delicate film rather than with lessons at school. Films communicate more directly. It takes lots of lessons at school to say the same thing and get the message across". Teacher Susanna Desi from Ghialarza added: "Seeing students paying so much attention and so involved was amazing for us. This format helps them think about the value of art and film".
Youth as usual were the real heroes of the Day. Thanks to the support of a facilitator they watched two of the most interesting films which were screened during the last edition of the festival and discussed with their friends. They had great fun playing the "movie games". "Great History" and "The environment" were the main themes of the films they saw: "Christine's Spring" by Mirjam Unger, a bildungsroman, a coming of age story, set at the end of the second world war and " – Brothers of the wind" by Gerardo Olivares and Otmar Penker, touching story dealing with friendship between a lonely kid and his little eagle.
"I really appreciated the cinema classes – said Angela, 10 years old – it enabled be to access a whole new world. We don't always understand the hard work which is behind a film and Today I got the chance to learn how many people are at work to produce an hour of film".
The event goes to Taloro tomorrow, an area between Nuoro and Oristano, where until Friday 12 May the fourth edition of the Tonara Experience takes place. The format financed by 'Consorzio Bim Taloro' and by the municipality of Tonara, aims at stimulating creativity through the language of film: last but not least local youth will have the chance to be selected as jurors for the 47th Giffoni Film Festival
