From 16th to 22nd October, the 17th edition of the Week of Italian Language in the World was celebrated throughout the world, under the High Patronage of the President of the Republic, with the theme: "Italian in cinema, Italians at the cinema ". Giffoni Experience was invited to China by the Consulate General of Italy in Canton to present its history to students, teachers and institutions.

The first special event awaited at Giffoni 2017 in collaboration with 20th Century Fox will focus on the acclaimed box office bestselling saga PLANET OF THE APES. The screening of Rise of the Planet of the Apes (2011) directed by Rupert Wyatt starts at 2.30pm in Sala Lumière: in a pharmaceutical company’s lab in San Francisco, young researcher Will Rodman is testing on chimpanzees the effects of a virus that might turn out to be a potential cure for Alzheimer’s disease.

"Before I Fall" by Ry Russo-Young starring Zoey Deutch, Halston Sage and Logan Miller is set to hit Italian Theatres on July 19 with Eagle Pictures and will be presented for domestic premiere at 47th Giffoni Film Festival.

Giffoni StreetFest is set to celebrate its fifth year. The Festival within the Festival, has been a real success with audiences since its inception with over 50.000 people, 30 shows, 10 locations, 9 days of workshops for families, several play areas, two Holy Color parties, street buskers, puppeteers, face painting, street bands, contemporary circuses and so much more.

Jasmine Trinca is the guest of honour for the opening of the 47th Giffoni Film Festival. One of the best Italian actresses recently awarded at the Cannes 2017 Festival in the section 'Un certain Regard' for her extraordinary performance in Sergio Castellitto's "Fortunata" will walk the blue carpet on 14 July at the Cinema Citadel.

Three days of activity, around 1000 students involved, six films selected from the last Giffoni Film Festival, workshops, games and interactive classes: this and more made up the Fourth edition of the Tonara Experience, the film festival addressed to the students from Taloro. The format was sponsored by  Consorzio Bim Taloro and by the Tonara municipality, and organized with the help of Impresa Sociale Nuovi Scenaridirected by Pino D’Antonio.

“The Multimedia Valley will keep together the history of Giffoni Valle Piana and the future of the Giffoni Film Festival. But I prefer to think of the Valley as an area, a region at large. The next edition of the Giffoni Film Festival will be held here and I wish we will be able to welcome up to 5 thousand jurors”.

Young and wise, Dean-Charles Chapman arrived at Giffoni 2016 accompanied by his mother and sister, to attend a Meet the Stars event crowded with Game of Thrones fans coming from all over Italy.
