Synopsis
Mika, 14, is looking forward to summer camp, but she failed her exams and her parents send her off to her grandmother’s stables. Mika has never cared for horses and refuses to study or work under the instructions of stable boy Sam, 15. Then the darkest corner of the stables reveal the wild stallion Windstorm. Neither Michelle, the stables’ best horsewoman, nor Mika’s grandma have managed to tame the animal. Mika is magically drawn to the stallion and sneaks into his stall. A friendship begins, showing Mika’s gift: she can communicate with horses. When she discovers that the stables are being shut down and Windstorm is supposed to be sold to a butcher, Mika hatches a plan with Sam: she has to learn how to ride and win a competition race with Windstorm in order to rescue the stallion’s life. Since her grandma has forbidden her to have any contact with the horse, Mika has to train in secret with Mr. Kaan, Sam’s grandfather.

Mika, 14 anni, aspetta con ansia il campo estivo, ma non supera gli esami ed è mandata dai genitori alle scuderie della nonna. Mika non sa nulla di cavalli, e non ha intenzione di studiare o di lavorare agli ordini dello stalliere Sam, 15 anni. Poi, l’angolo più buio della fattoria rivela un selvaggio stallone, Windstorm. Né Michelle, la migliore cavallerizza delle scuderie, né la nonna di Mika sono riuscite a domare l’animale. Mika è magicamente attratta dal cavallo e si intrufola nella sua stalla. Tra i due nasce un legame che rivela il dono di Mika, quello di comunicare con i cavalli. Quando scopre che le scuderie sono in bancarotta e che Windstorm sarà venduto a un macellaio, Mika escogita un piano con Sam: la ragazza dovrà imparare a cavalcare e vincere una gara con Windstorm per salvare la vita dello stallone. Poiché la nonna le ha proibito di avere contatti con il cavallo, Mika si allena in segreto con Mr. Kaan, il nonno di Sam.
