Synopsis

Petra (Emma) is about to celebrate her 5th birthday. What she wants most of all is a dog. Petra’s mom, who is a vet, says that one must be a little older to look after a dog. But Petra insists that 5 years is more than old enough. Karsten (Casper) dreads his first day at his new kindergarten. But when he arrives, he meets Petra. And just as Karsten has his Lion Cub, she also has a stuffed animal, Miss Rabbit, that comes alive. From that day Karsten and Petra are best friends. One day Petra meets a very cute dog, Bassa. Petra falls in love with Bassa and wants to take her home immediately. Miss Rabbit gets really jealous of Bassa and when Petra and Karsten are at the fire station with their class, she runs off and hides. Petra thinks she has lost Miss Rabbit forever, and nothing can make her happy again. But on her birthday, Petra doesn’t just get one great surprise, she gets two.

Petra (Emma) sta per festeggiare il suo 5° compleanno, e ciò che più desidera è un cane. Sua madre, che fa la veterinaria, afferma che bisogna essere più grandi per prendersene cura, ma Petra insiste a dire che 5 anni bastano. Intanto il piccolo Karsten (Casper) affronta timoroso il suo primo giorno in un nuovo asilo, dove fa la conoscenza di Petra. Come Karsten ha un animale di peluche, Cucciolo di Leone, così anche Petra ne ha uno, Miss Rabbit, che, come quello di Karsten, è capace di prendere vita: così i due bambini diventano amici per la pelle. Un giorno, Petra incontra un bel cane di nome Bassa, ne rimane incantata, e vorrebbe portarlo a casa con sé. Miss Rabbit si ingelosisce e, mentre Petra e Karsten sono in visita con l’asilo alla caserma dei pompieri, scappa e si nasconde. Petra pensa di aver perduto Miss Rabbit per sempre, e non riesce a ritrovare la felicità. Tuttavia, il giorno del suo compleanno, Petra riceverà non una, ma due grandi sorprese.
