Synopsis
Thomas, 17, and his father Niels spend their summer holidays at the Spanish coast. What was promised as a father and son time out takes a turn when Thomas’ Spanish teacher Angélica appears and Thomas learns that Niels has a relationship with her. Frustrated by the betrayal Thomas stays by himself while Niels and Angélica enjoy the holidays. When a boat with African refugees sinks close to the hotel, some of them drown while others make it to land. One of them is Djamile, 20, from Congo. She hides from the Spanish authorities and the African smugglers who brought her to Europe. Thomas runs into Djamile and hides her in his room. When Niels and Angelica learn about the secret, the situation gets explosive. Thomas tries to get in contact with other African people to find a way to save Djamile with whom he has fallen in love. He explores an unknown world of desperation, sorrow, and love.

Sinossi
Thomas, 17 anni, passa le vacanze estive con il padre Niels sulla costa spagnola. Quella che doveva essere una semplice villeggiatura tra padre e figlio, prende una piega inattesa quando appare l’insegnante di spagnolo di Thomas, Angélica, e il ragazzo viene a sapere che Niels ha una relazione con lei. Amareggiato, Thomas si isola, mentre Niels e Angélica si godono la vacanza. Quando nei pressi dell’albergo affonda una barca di profughi africani, alcuni annegano, mentre altri riescono a prendere terra: una di questi è la congolese Djamile, 20 anni, in fuga dalle autorità spagnole, e dagli scafisti africani che l’hanno portata in Europa. Thomas s’imbatte in lei e la nasconde nella sua camera. Quando Niels e Angélica lo scoprono, la situazione sembra peggiorare. Innamoratosi di Djamile, Thomas, in cerca di un modo per salvarla, tenta di avvicinarsi agli altri africani, esplorando un mondo nuovo, fatto di disperazione, dolore, e amore.
