Gus Van Sant
Born 1952, Louisville (Kentucky). In 1985 he directed his first feature film, MALA NOCHE, followed by DRUGSTORE COWBOY (1989), MY OWN PRIVATE IDAHO (1991), EVEN COWGIRLS GET THE BLUES (1993), TO DIE FOR (1995), GOOD WILL HUNTING (1997, two Academy Awards for Best Original Screenplay and Best Supporting Actor), PSYCHO (1998), FINDING FORRESTER (2000), GERRY (2002), ELEPHANT (2003, Golden Palm and Award for Best Director at the Cannes Film Festival), LAST DAYS (2005), PARANOID PARK (2007, 60th Anniversary Prize at Cannes), MILK (2008, Academy Award for Best Actor in Leading Role to Sean Penn).
