Lars Berg
Born in 1959 in Norway, he studied Cinema at the San Francisco Art Institute and Directing at the American Film Institute in Los Angeles. In 1995 he directed his first feature film, DANGEROUS WATERS (FARLIG FARVANN), followed by MAYA STONEFACE (MAJA STEINANSIKT), screened at GFF 1997 in Childhood Screens competitive section. His feature film SCARS (GLASSKÅR) was the best film in Free to Fly competitive section at GFF 2002.

Lars Berg

Nel 1995 gira il suo primo lungometraggio, DANGEROUS WATERS (FARLIG FARVANN), seguito da LA SCAPPATELLA DI PAPÀ (MAJA STEINANSIKT), in concorso al GFF 1997 nella sezione Schermi d’Infanzia. Dirige poi FRATELLI DI SANGUE (GLASSKÅR), miglior film della sezione Free to Fly al GFF 2002.

Director’s statement
“My angle on this project was to focus on what would be the challenges and of importance for the three young heroines themselves; the complications and tests within their friendship and how, by standing together and utilizing their unique qualities, the young one can better deal with some of the shortcomings and prejudice of the grown-up world. I’ve tried to put some heart into it as well as pushing the story forward and, most important, making it engaging for the target group of 7-12 years old. This is also my first fully digital feature shooting with two SI2K cameras and as such a interesting process but the most rewarding is as always the work with the actors. These three East End Angels, all first-timers, have been a great fun to work with and I expect the audience will find some of this fun has found its way up on the screen. These girls rule their turf!”.

“Il mio punto di vista su questo progetto mi ha spinto a concentrarmi su quelle che dovrebbero essere le sfide e le cose importanti per le tre giovani protagoniste del film: le difficoltà e le prove che la loro amicizia deve affrontare, e il modo in cui i giovani – restando uniti e utilizzando le loro specifiche qualità – possono fronteggiare meglio le mancanze e i pregiudizi del mondo degli adulti. Ho cercato di metterci il cuore, di far procedere il racconto con ritmo, e – cosa ancora più importante – di renderlo coinvolgente per il pubblico di riferimento del film, i ragazzi dai 7 ai 12 anni. Questo è anche il mio primo film girato interamente in digitale, con due camere SI2K, e in quanto tale comporta un processo tecnico interessante, ma il punto più gratificante è come sempre il lavoro con gli attori. È stato molto divertente lavorare con le tre East End Angels, tutte alla loro prima esperienza cinematografica, e penso che gli spettatori scopriranno che questo divertimento è arrivato sullo schermo. Queste ragazze hanno trovato la loro strada!”.
