Émile Proulx-Cloutier

Born 1983 in Montréal, Canada. He studied Cinema at Ahuntsic College. In 2004 he directed his first short film PAPA, which was selected in official competition at the Clermont-Ferrand Short Film Festival. It also won best short film prize at the Jutra Awards. In 2008 he completed his second short, THE REFUGE. The film went to Clermont-Ferrand and Tampere’s film festivals in International Competition and was nominated for best short film at the Jutra Awards. In 2009 he made his first documentary feature, THE LITTLE GIANTS, co-directed with Anaïs Barbeau-Lavalette. Being a graduate from the drama school Le Conservatoire d’Art Dramatique de Montréal, he played in many theatrical, television and film productions as an actor, including the TV series LES HAUTS ET LES BAS DE SOPHIE PAQUIN. He was also the main character in the feature LE DÉSERTEUR (2008), directed by Simon Lavoie. LIFE BEGINS is his third short film.

Nel 2004 dirige il suo primo cortometraggio, PAPA, che partecipa in concorso al festival di Clermont-Ferrand e vince il premio Jutra. Nel 2008 firma il suo secondo corto, LES RÉFUGIÉS, in concorso ai festival di Clermont-Ferrand e di Tampere, candidato al premio Jutra. Nel 2009 dirige con Anaïs Barbeau-Lavalette il suo primo lungometraggio, il documentario LES PETITS GÉANTS. Diplomato alla Scuola d’Arte Drammatica di Montréal, ha recitato per il teatro, il cinema e la televisione. È apparso nella serie tv SOPHIE PAQUIN, e nel film LE DÉSERTEUR (2008), di Simon Lavoie. LIFE BEGINS è il suo terzo corto da regista.
