Shana Feste
Feste’s involvement in the arts began when at age 11 she toured with the Young Professionals Actors program in the play DEAR GABBY. She continued her training at the Santa Monica Playhouse theatre program, studied screenwriting at the University of Texas in Austin and attended the producing program at AFI (American Film Institute). Feste worked as a researcher for the director Robert Towne and an assistant to an agent while preparing to direct her first screenplay THE GREATEST.

Shana Feste debutta all’età di 11 anni, recitando nello spettacolo DEAR GABBY e partecipando al tour della compagnia Young Professionals Actors. Successivamente segue il programma di formazione del Santa Monica Playhouse Theatre, studia sceneggiatura all’Università del Texas a Austin, e frequenta il programma di produzione all’AFI (American Film Institute). Ha lavorato come ricercatrice per il regista Robert Towne e come assistente di un agente mentre scriveva la sceneggiatura del suo primo film, THE GREATEST.

Director’s statement
“I have always been inspired by the film ORDINARY PEOPLE. It made such an impact on me when I first watched it and it began a long fascination with both the grief process and domestic dramas. While doing my initial research on grief I was incredibly inspired by the stories from parents that had lost a child. Their incredible vulnerability - honesty - the beautiful way their sadness dictated their behavior. And while I was doing this initial research I was taking care of a beautiful baby girl who would take naps on my lap while I wrote in the journal that I would bring to work with me everyday. I was inspired by the love I felt for her - the love that she exuded and her potential power to heal those around her. So the combination of those two very different experiences inspired me to write THE GREATEST”.

“Mi ha sempre colpito molto il film GENTE COMUNE. La prima volta che l’ho visto ha avuto su di me un forte impatto, e da quel momento ho cominciato a essere affascinata dal tema dell’elaborazione del lutto e dai drammi familiari. Mentre compivo le prime ricerche sul lutto sono stata molto ispirata dalle storie di genitori che hanno perso i figli, dalla loro incredibile vulnerabilità, l’onestà, il toccante modo in cui la tristezza detta il loro comportamento. Nello stesso periodo mi prendevo cura di una splendida bambina che faceva il pisolino tra le mie braccia mentre scrivevo il diario che portavo al lavoro con me ogni giorno. Sono stata ispirata dall’amore che provavo per lei, dall’amore che lei emanava e dal suo potere di guarire le persone intorno a lei. È stata la combinazione di queste due esperienze molto diverse a condurmi a scrivere THE GREATEST”.
